Water is one of the world’s most precious and valuable resources. However, due to human activity and climate change, it is also one of the most vulnerable. Professor Guswa will discuss the big issues facing our water supply, and steps that can be taken to preserve it.
Drew Guswa joined the faculty at Smith College in 2001 to help launch the Picker Engineering Program – the first engineering program at an all-women’s college. As a civil and environmental engineer, he works to improve people’s understanding of water processes to facilitate informed decision-making. His recent projects have included water system research in the tropical cloud forests of Monteverde, Costa Rica, and the development of Smith’s Ada and Archibald MacLeish field Station for hydrologic investigation.
